Manchester United agree world-record fee for Paul Pogba

It is believed that the Premier League club have settled on a fee of €110 million for Juventus midfielder

LONDON: English Premier League club Manchester United have agreed to a world-record deal to sign France’s Paul Pogba from Serie A champions Juventus for €110 million, Goal.com reported on Thursday.

Officials from the English club met with their Juventus counterparts earlier on Wednesday to discuss a deal to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford. However, the initial bid was rejected by the Italian club.

Nonetheless, it is now believed that United have settled on a fee of €110 million for Pogba, which overshadows the previous record of transfer fee set by Spanish giants Real Madrid when they paid €100 million for Gareth Bale in 2013.



The French midfielder is said to be happy to accept an annual salary of €13m at Old Trafford, which would almost triple the wages he is currently earning with the Old Lady.

However, Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, said that the deal hasn't been finalised yet.

The 23-year-old originally left United for Juventus four years ago due to a lack of first-team opportunities, but his imminent return to the club will cap a busy start in the transfer market for new boss Jose Mourinho.



The Manchester-based club have already added Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to their squad this summer, with the Portuguese manager keen to get his major business tied up as quickly as possible.
