HANGU:

Three tribes of Thal tehsil observed a shutters-down strike against illegal occupation of their land by Khojal Khel Paloseen Wazir tribe in Hangu on Wednesday.

All bazaars and markets were closed down and business activity appeared to be negligible.

Traders said Khojal Khel Paloseen Wazir tribe had taken over 40,000 acres of their land illegally. They said the land was legally possessed by Thal, Dar Samandar and Khuwedad Khel tribes. The demonstrators urged the government to resolve the issue. They also said the government and district administration paid no attention to their problems even when they had appealed to them to resolve the issue several times.

However, later, a six-member committee was constituted by all three tribes which met the commanding officer of Thal Scouts, Colonel Munir. The officer along with AAC Abdul Majeed assured the matter will be resolved in five days.
