For everyone: Govt promises telecom services
The USF has been running rural telecom projects to provide basic telephone and data services
ISLAMABAD:
Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Anusha Rehman said the government was determined to provide telecom facilities to every corner of the country.
“As per directive of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the Universal Services Fund (USF) will be used to provide best telecom services for remote areas with transparency,” she said while talking to PTV.
Rehman added the USF was spent under a proper mechanism and the USF board had representation from both public and private-sector stakeholders.
According to Rehman, projects worth Rs20 billion were currently in progress under the USF scheme throughout the country and the schemes would be further enhanced.
