KARACHI: The Rangers claimed to have arrested on Monday nearly a dozen suspects during ongoing operations in Larkana and Karachi.

The targeted operations against criminals in Karachi have been taking place for the last two years but the ones in Larkana began this week after a 'misunderstanding' led to the arrest of plainclothes Rangers men and the escape of a suspect, Asad Kharal.

Kharal, a clerk in Bakrani taluka municipal administration, was being arrested by the Rangers men from Larkana when he reportedly sought favours from Sindh home minister Sohail Siyal and his younger brother, Tariq Siyal, and had the law enforcers arrested for the attempted 'kidnapping'. Since Kharal is still missing, the Rangers have started operations in rural Sindh to locate his whereabouts.

The Rangers have arrested several suspects including six criminals from Bakrani and surrounding goths of Larkana on Monday. The arrested men were handed over to the police after interrogation.

Separately, Rangers arrested three suspects during targeted raids in Baldia and Lyari Town areas. Two of the suspects were charged with involvement in target killing and extortion, while the third was affiliated with the Baba Ladla group of Lyari. Weapons and ammunitions were also recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, four more suspects were arrested during snap checking at Khadda Market, Kalri and Sharae Faisal. Weapons were also recovered from their possession. The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.
