Targeted: Police official shot dead, another laid to rest

Head constable Imam Khan was on way to duty

BANNU/PESHAWAR: A police constable was shot dead within the jurisdiction of Domail police station in Bannu on Monday.

Police said head constable Imam Khan was on his way to work when unidentified armed men opened fire on him and managed to escape the site.

As a result, he was killed on the spot. Later, his body was shifted to the Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital for an autopsy. A case has been registered and investigation was under way.

Slain cop laid to rest

Slain police head constable Qasim Khan was laid to rest in Akhund Darwaza graveyard in Peshawar on Monday. The cop was gunned down on Sunday, while he was on way to perform his duty at Supreme Court Registry.  The deceased was initially injured when two men on motorbikes opened fire on him in Jamil Chowk area within the jurisdiction of Yakatoot police station. He was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital but could not survive.

The policeman had no enemies and the police said this was a targeted incident.
