According to a statement issued by the UET, more than 41,000 candidates sat the entrance test for BSc (engineering) and BS (technology). The test was given simultaneously from 10am until 11:40am at 13 centres in the province.
As many as 12,723 candidates appeared in the test at the UET, Lahore. As many as 5,019 candidates appeared in Islamabad, 6,000 in Multan, 4,228 in Faisalabad, 2,834 in Kala Shah Kaku, 1,763 in Bahawalpur, 1,055 in Rahim Yar Khan, 1,642 in Sahiwal, 660 in Mianwali, 2,266 in Gujrat, 2,735 in Taxila and 359 in Rasul.
Vice Chancellor Fazal Ahmad Khalid visited some of the centres. He said steps had been taken to ensure transparency and merit. He said he was satisfied with the arrangements.
Fazal said the UET was making efforts to upgrade the curricula in accordance with the needs of market. The university was keen on establishing strong relations with industry to channelise the hard work of students, the vice chancellor said.
He said arrangements were also made for the families of candidates at the centres. Drinking water was also arranged for them. He said walkthrough gates, closed-circuit cameras and cell-phone jammers had been installed to ensure security at the centres. The results will be announced on July 24.
