SWABI: Political representatives and social activists in Swabi have said they will go to court if the provincial government does not remove content in school textbooks that portray Pukhtun hero Kalu Khan as a dacoit.

A convention was held early Sunday morning in Fazal Ali Haqqani Library Hall in Swabi. It was led by Yousafzai Action Committee Swabi and district nazim Ameerur Rehman.

They condemned the representation of Kalu Khan, saying heroes are supposed to be kept alive in their autobiographies. However, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board did otherwise by mentioning Kalu Khan as a dacoit. Participants of the convention expressed their anger towards the textbook board for not removing his name from the insulting context despite so many protests. The speakers also said if the government does not heed their demand, they will approach the court.
