Testing times: 15,691 candidates take UET’s entrance exam

At least 570 female, 15,121 male candidates appeared at all centres

PESHAWAR: At least 15,691 candidates from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir took the entrance test for University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar on Sunday.  The test was conducted at venues in Peshawar, Abbottabad, Swat and DI Khan.

The venues for the test in Peshawar were the ground in Islamia Collegiate and Cricket Ground in the University of Peshawar. The exam was also held at Ayub Medical College in Abbottabad Grassy Ground in Saidu Sharif, Swat and University Wensam College in DI Khan.

The test was conducted by the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA).

The results of the test will be announced on Monday (today) and will be made available on ETEA website (www.etea.edu.pk) as well. The results will also be displayed on the university’s main notice board.

Matter of comfort

Speaking on the occasion, UET Vice Chancellor Dr Iftikhar Hussain said the test was conducted at two different venues in Peshawar for the comfort of students.

“I would like to thank the police on campus for providing foolproof security during the test,” he said.

During the test, students were provided mineral water and pedestal fans at the centres. A medical facility and ambulance was also put in place at all test centres.

At the centres in Peshawar, at least 9,763 candidates took the test. Around 9,382 candidates aspired to get into the university’s engineering programme while another 381 candidates vied for a place in the varsity’s computer sciences programme.

At the Abbottabad centre, at least 1,848 candidates appeared for the test. At least 1,804 aspired to get into the engineering programme while the remaining candidates were trying their luck for a place in the computer science department.
