PABBI:
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government constituted its own accountability commission. However, when the commission tried to arrest government officials and ministers, the provincial government sacked its members.

This was said by Awami National Party Central General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Saturday. He expressed these views while addressing an Eid Milan party in Dag Behsud, Pabbi in Nowshera on Saturday.

He added ANP supports across the board accountability and does not simply believe in paying lip service to the idea.

Short end of the stick

The ANP leader criticised the government for not providing Nishtar Hall to hold a programme on the death anniversary of his son, Mian Rashid Hussain. He said the K-P government also refused to provide the hall for the death anniversary of ANP leader Bashir Bilour.

Mian Iftikhar added government departments have been damaged during the tenure of the PTI-led government in the province.  “We are being victimised but we want the incumbent government to continue as we want democracy to prevail,” he said.

According to the ANP leader, the meeting to discuss the terms of reference for the Panama enquiry commission will be held on July 19 and the ANP will attend it.

“PPP and PTI went to election commission over Panama Leaks issue but we were not taken into confidence,” he said. “We want the government and opposition to reach an agreement on TOR.”

He maintained ANP stands with the government and will always support democracy.
