PESHAWAR:

Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel said action would be taken against those lawyers who were tarnishing the image of the legal fraternity.

He was speaking at an Eid Milan party organised in his honour by the K-P Bar Council, Peshawar High Court Bar Association and District Bar Peshawar on Saturday.

The chief justice said he would ask Pakistan Bar Council and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council to take action against such individuals.

CJ Miankhel added he took no time in acting on complaints against judicial officials. Calling for the constructive use of social media, he asked lawyers not to use Facebook as a tool to humiliate each other.

The CJ said he received several complaints that lawyers were using the social network against fellow members of the fraternity. “I received complaints from a lawyer that he was being humiliated on Facebook by some of his colleagues,” he said.

Miankhel urged lawyers to use social media within limits and for constructive purposes.
