KARACHI: To protest against the atrocities being committed in Indian-occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will organise countrywide protests and demonstrations will begin from tomorrow (Friday).

An 'Azadi March' from Lahore to Wagah Border will be held on July 31 against the barbaric acts of Indian forces in the disputed territory.

This was announced by JI amir Sirajul Haq while addressing the Kashmir Solidarity Conference organised by JI Karachi chapter at New MA Jinnah Road on Wednesday. "Dubious approach by Pakistani rulers has created a big dent in the Kashmir cause," said Haq, adding that friendship and trade agreements with India have sabotaged the decades' long struggle of Kashmiris.

He urged the international community to play its role in stopping the massacre in Indian-held Kashmir.

The JI chief also demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif to stand with Kashmiris in this critical moment of their struggle for freedom.

Appreciating the role of Burhan Muzaffar Wani, who was killed in a gunfight with the Indian army on Friday, he said that the 22-year-old martyr has given a new hope to Kashmiri people for fighting for freedom from Indian occupation. "United Nations should act in accordance with the resolution of Security Council to solve this issue," he added.

Criticising the Indian prime minister for his 'anti-Muslim policy', he said that thousands of Kashmiris have been killed by Indian forces. Haq also urged upon the people of Pakistan to stand with their Kashmiri brothers to defeat the Indian forces.

"One-eighty million people of Pakistan are with [the] Kashmiris," he said, adding that the independence of Kashmir will complete Pakistan.

JI Sindh chief Dr Mirajul Huda Siddiqui also said that Wani has given a message to the oppressive forces that Kashmiris will fight even with their last drop of blood to get their rights. He said that Pakistan will never accept Indian supremacy in the region.
