HANGU: Representatives of 18 tribes from Orakzai Agency have urged the federal government and political agent to extend the registration period of unregistered families.

While speaking at the occasion, Muttahida Qabail Party Vice Chairperson Malik Habib Noor Orakzai along with other tribespeople said they had been living under increasing pressure owing to official neglect and incompetence. Many of them said their families have been suffering since the time of the British Raj.

“Our families faced miserable conditions in the cities and are still not living a peaceful life even though they have returned home,” one of them said.

They added two months have passed since the displaced population of Orakzai Agency returned to their native lands. However, they have not been provided basic amenities.  “Health and education facilities have not been provided in the region until now,” he added.

The tribespeople urged the government to extend the timeline of the registration process of unregistered families of Orakzai Agency. They added the dispute over a road in Guwag should also be addressed with immediate effect to prevent any unforeseen circumstances.

Orakzai Agency Political Agent Muhammad Zubair Khan heard the grievances of the tribespeople and vowed to resolve them as soon as possible.
