Procession: Extension in army chief’s tenure demanded

MANSEHRA: Traders and social activists held a procession in Mansehra on Wednesday to throw their weight behind Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif’s efforts to ensure peace and progress in the country.

Many of them also demanded that his tenure should be extended. The procession started from Markazi Jamia Masjid. A public meeting was held at Tajdar Khatm-e-Nabuwat Chowk. The participants shouted slogans against Indian atrocities in held Kashmir.

While speaking on the occasion, Anjuman Tajran Mansehra President Hafiz Ijaz said the military has curbed militancy and allowed citizens to live without fear. He said General Raheel Sharif’s tenure should be extended to ensure peace in the country. A local PTI leader Babar Salim Swati said the rulers had business ties with Indian leadership. As a result, they were not raising the issue of Indian atrocities in held Kashmir at international level.
