A step forward: Jirga throws weight behind security officials

Members say they are committed to support administration to combat militancy

SHABQADAR: Tribespeople have vowed to render unconditional support to security forces to ensure peace and stability in Mohmand Agency.

This was said during a meeting held in Bhaidag attended by members of Baizai tribe and Baizai subdivision Assistant Political Agent Abdullah Shah.

During the meeting, the jirga members also assured that anyone found guilty of providing shelter to terrorists at their houses will be punished according to customs and their houses will be demolished.

Separately, members of Safi tribe also held a jirga at Bautha village in Lakaro tehsil of Mohmand Agency. They threw their weight behind security officials and political agents who are combatting militancy. They said strict measures should be taken against those who are involved in militant activities. Another jirga was also held to take action against violence committed during Ramazan.

The administration has warned tribespeople that they shall be punished in case any act of militancy is committed in the area. Moreover, government officials will also seize the property and businesses of tribespeople in such cases.
