U20 championship: Pakistan volleyed out of last-eight race

Youngsters lost their last group match 3-1 against Japan after winning opening set by 25-23

KARACHI: Pakistan are out of the quarter-final race as they lost all of their group matches to finish last in their group at the 2016 Asian Junior U20 Men’s Volleyball Championship at Bangkok in Thailand yesterday.

The youngsters lost their last group match 3-1 against Japan after winning the opening set by 25-23. They lost the rest three sets with scores of 17-25, 23-25 and 22-25.

Earlier, they were defeated 3-1 by Iraq with scores of 21-25, 25-21, 14-25 and 18-25, while they lost to China 3-0 in the opening match.

Now Pakistan will face Iraq, Chinese Taipei and Saudi Arabia in group G matches for the ninth place along with Group H containing Australia, Hong Kong, Qatar and Bahrain.
