PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council boycotted courts across the province on Monday. This action was a show of protest against the target killing of a lawyer in DI Khan. Also, the legal fraternity was up in arms over the issuance of an arrest warrant against another lawyer in Nowshera.

Due to the strike, no lawyer appeared before a court across the province and litigants returned home as their cases could not be heard. The bar council demanded the government convene a meeting of the provincial apex committee to find the target killers and punish them.

The lawyers also paid tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi and offered prayers for him.

The Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) passed a resolution against Nowshera district coordination officer and criticised him for registering an FIR against lawyer Pir Fayyaz and for misbehaving with Nowshera Bar President Ijaz Khan. They urged the provincial government to take notice of the DCO’s behaviour and transfer him immediately.
