ISLAMABAD: Officials in the meteorological department have predicted more rain and wet weather in most parts of the country this week.

In its latest advisory the Pakistan Meteorological Department stated that a well-marked low pressure area persisted over central parts of India (Madhya Pradesh) which is likely to move westwards over the next 24 hours.

At the same time, another fresh westerly wave is also likely to approach in the middle of the coming week.

Under the influence of these meteorological conditions, more monsoon currents of moderate to strong intensity are likely to induce rains in Pakistan in coming days, the Met department said.

It said that rain with dust/ thunderstorms, and at times isolated heavy showers accompanied by windstorms, are likely to strike a number of places in Punjab, Islamabad, lower Sindh and Azad Kashmir between Monday and Thursday.

Rains and dust-thunderstorms are also expected at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fata, upper Sindh and eastern Balochistan during the same period, it added. It is expected that isolated heavy downpours will trigger flash floods in vulnerable areas.
