Deadly accident: Two killed, 18 injured in car-van collision

LAHORE: Two people died and 18 others were injured when a passenger van collided with a car in Kahna on Sunday.

Police said that the accident occurred when the passenger van, heading towards Kasur from Lahore, collided with the car near Halloki Road, Kahna Kacha. “The passenger van overturned after the collision. As a result, 20 people received injuries,” police said.

Rescue 1122 teams were called to the scene. They took the injured to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced two of them dead.

One of the deceased was later identified as Muhamamd Siddique, 80. The second victim has not yet been identified.

Police said they had moved the bodies to a morgue for post mortem examination.

Police said that the accident had been caused by overspeeding. They said they were further investigating and would register a case after the initial inquiry.

The injured have been identified as Mushtaq, 38, Ramazan, 26, Ikram, 55, Zahra, 30, Nusrat Bibi, 50, Naila, 40, Shahnaz, 30, Nawab Bibi, 60, Aslam, 55, Yashba, 7, Alla Dita, 30, Saima, 13, Saira, 25, Salman, 15, Angelina, 3, and Mahmood, 29.

A large number of people gathered at the spot after the accident. They pulled the injured out of the vehicles. Police and rescue teams later arrived.
