KARACHI: The brother of Dr Imran Wasi, who was gunned down in Lyari, has blamed the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) of using Wasi’s death as a political tool.

“They managed to get several doctors promoted but failed to seek justice for Dr Wasi,” said Rehan Wasi. He said that the doctors were out on the streets to protest the murder but stopped once they were promoted.

Eidgah SHO Inspector Amjad Kiyani was suspended and Rehan believes it is because the inspector knew something about the suspects who killed Dr Wasi.

He alleged that Eidgah police station investigation incharge Sub-inspector Mumtaz Hussain Shah retrieved the victim’s mobile phone records 15 days after the incident, which is the only progress made in the case.

Dr Wasi, Lyari General Hospital’s ENT specialist, was shot dead on January 20, on the way to his clinic in Ranchore Lines. Despite slipping on a speed breaker after killing him, the accused still managed to escape.
