KARACHI: Pakistan’s Israr Ahmad has been seeded joint-third with Egypt’s Youssef Ibrahim for the upcoming World Junior Squash Championship as the official draws were released yesterday by the World Squash Federation (WSF).

The event will take place in Bielsko-Biała, Poland from August 7 to11. In the Individual draws announced by the World Squash Federation, 18-year-old and top-seed Saadeldin Abouaish, from Cairo, is the favourite to win his maiden men’s title, while defending champion Nouran Gohar — also 18 and from Cairo — will be the player to beat in the women’s draw, according to the WSF.

Israr has received a bye in the first round along with his compatriots Ahsan Ayaz and Abbas Shaukat —both of whom are unseeded. Mehran Javed, another Pakistani unseeded player, will take on Jordan’s Hamzah Alzubaidi in the first round. The Pakistan Squash Federation remains hopeful that Israr will go a long way in the tournament and make the country proud.
