KARACHI: Enraged employees of a garments factory in Karachi’s Korangi area vandalised and set on fire vehicles in protest after factory owners refused an expected Eid bonus.

A video which went viral on social media shows a group of employees chanting slogans against the factory owners as they vandalise vehicles parked outside the factory with sticks and stones.

“It started around 11:00am when the labourers came out of the factory building to protest against the owners,” Ghulam Rasool, SHO Korangi Industrial Area told The Express Tribune.

“The angry and frustrated employees of ADM garments factory at Vita Chowrangi also burned two cars while four others were damaged,” the SHO added.

The police officer further said the protesters were dispersed after police and Rangers personnel arrived at the scene. “The matter has been resolved after the representatives from the protesters and the factory administration held negotiations.”
