In custody FIA employee arrested for smuggling

PESHAWAR:  

An employee of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was arrested in the city on Saturday for smuggling cash and gold.

Officials privy to the development told The Express Tribune, Nazir Hussain was allegedly involved in smuggling of US dollars and gold from Bacha Khan International Airport.

A police official told The Express Tribune their officials recovered 23 kilogrammes of gold, three passports, more than $6,000, and three mobile phones from his possession.

He said Hussain was arrested from a shop in Saddar, where he was purchasing mobile phones for his family members.

During the investigation, he confessed to smuggling gold and cash from the airport.

According to the official, he allegedly bribed airport staff to help him. Hussain was shifted to an undisclosed location and investigation is under way.
