Game of Thrones stars visit refugee camps in Greece

The actors says it was a 'life-changing' experience

Game of Thrones stars Lena Headey, Maisie Williams and Liam Cunningham visited a Syrian refugee camp in Greece and shared their experience which they said was "life-changing".

The stars visited two camps in Lesbos during a trip organised by US based relief agency, The International Rescue Committee.

The GoT actors found European nations' closed door policies "utterly ridiculous".



"There are people in the camps who are oncologists, judges, successful people who have had everything taken away from them," Liam said.

Maisie -- who plays Arya in the massively popular TV show -- shared her experience of meeting a 21-year-old girl who was headed to a university but the crisis has left her stranded in a place where she doesn't belong. "She's had that all taken away from her and you worry that she's here to take from your country -- She's just a girl."

The actors have appealed to the EU to ease restrictions on refugees.

"I'd love to grab them (government officials) by the back of their neck and bring them into the camps and just say 'Look, look what you have done'. Absolutely unquestionably shameful,"  Liam added.
