LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Friday sought comments from the Shahdara SHO on a petition filed by a man seeking a case against a group of people demanding money from him after introducing themselves as policemen.

Muhammad Amjad submitted that a few days ago he had received a phone call from a man who introduced himself as Labanwala post in-charge. He said the caller told him that he had arrested some drug peddlers who claimed that he (the petitioner) had bought drugs from them.

“He told me he would not arrest me if I paid him Rs100,000.” Amjad said it transpired later that the caller, a resident of Sheikhupra, was not a police official and that his name was Muhammad Aslam. He said Aslam was part of a gang involved in blackmailing people. He requested the court to direct the SHO to register an FIR against Aslam and his accomplices.
