RAWALPINDI: With Eidul Fitr fast approaching, the sale of counterfeit and substandard cosmetics is on the rise in the city markets, the use of which has been clinically proven to be a key contributor to the spread of various skin infections.

The sale of these cosmetics had started with the advent of Ramazan, in preparation for Eid. Low quality
face creams, lip sticks, body lotions, nail polishes, talcum powders, soaps, shampoos and other items are not only being sold at roadside stalls, but also in the shops of renowned markets.

When talking to out reporter on Tuesday, doctors of a local hospital warned that those second-rate cosmetics cause
skin diseases and were a threat to health and hygiene, and stated that
the officials concerned should launch a crackdown against those selling such items.
