Akbar moved into the last-70 stage by beating England’s Chris Wakelin 4-1 in the last-134 with scores of 77 (64)-17, 68-48, 41-82, 60-39, 70-34.
“I’m proud to break into the main round and gain the chance to earn some precious points at the main event,” Akbar told The Express Tribune. “It won’t be easy but I’ll try to get the most I can from this event.”
Akbar vows to come back stronger
Akbar had broken into the top 100 at the end of his first year in the professional snooker circuit.
When Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) officials were contacted regarding the issue, they said the matter is being looked after by Akbar and his manager in the UK, and they hope that the 23-year-old will receive his visa in time to participate in the Indian Open.

“Once Akbar is in the UK, his manager looks after all arrangements while we keep a check from time to time,” PBSA President Alamgir Sheikh told The Express Tribune. “We don’t think he will face any problem regarding his visa.”
The official added that he is expecting Hamza to perform better than last year, since he is adjusting well in the professional circuit and now understands the environment and players better.
