ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has chalked out a comprehensive plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic during the last Ashra of Ramadan when markets and shopping centres will be thronged for Eid shopping.

Police sources said that traffic arrangements have been finalised by SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob after consultation with heads of various zones and ITP’s sections.

He said that the SSP (Traffic) cancelled the vacations of traffic cops and said ITP personnel has been assigned extra duties in markets, shopping areas, mosques and public parks to maintain smooth flow of traffic and facility of general public.

Extra deployment will be made at Super Jinnah market, Blue area, Karachi Company, F-10, Peshawar Mor, Aabpara and F-8.

The sources said that ITP will deploy special mobile squads to control traffic at busy places. He said that additional strength will be deployed at busy places to ensure convenience to motorists and avoid rush in markets.

Strict accountability system would be ensured through regular checking of duties and those performing well would be encouraged and disciplinary action to be taken against those involved in dereliction of duties, the sources maintained.
