Inferno: Ice factory, electricity transformer catch fire, in DI Khan

Bodies found in city, identities yet to be ascertained

DI KHAN: An ice factory caught fire in Mohallah Usmani in DI Khan on Friday.

A police official said Rescue 1122 officials reached the scene and extinguished the flames.

“After controlling the fire, Rescue 1122 workers entered the building and saved some deep freezers that were not already burnt,” he added.

The factory’s owner Sheikhullah Bakhsh told the media that fire erupted due to an electric short-circuit and caused damages amounting to about Rs3 million. “Seven deep freezers, a motorbike and part of the factory building were reduced to ashes,” he said.

The ice factory was fully functional and was providing ice to people in the hot month of June.

Meanwhile, an electricity transformer also caught fire in Bakaree Bazaar in DI khan city on the same day. Many nearby shops were engulfed in flames. Rescue-1122 reached the spot and controlled the fire.

Bodies found

The body of a newborn child was found in Maqbool Abad village of DI Khan on Friday.

According to Paharpur police, the identity of the child could not be ascertained. An FIR was registered and investigation is under way.

Another body was found in Mohallah Rafat Sakna in DI Khan city on the same day. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.

The officials of Cantt police station took the body into custody and shifted it to District Headquarters and Teaching Hospital DI Khan for post-mortem.

They said the body bore many torture marks.
