HYDERABAD: Folk singer Allah Dino Khaskheli passed away at the age of 50 in a road accident on Thursday night.

He was travelling in a car with two other people from Mirpurkhas to his village in Sujawal district. Allah Dino's car collided with an oil tanker in Tando Allahyar district and the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, Hyderabad, said the Tando Allahyar police, adding that he had survived a similar accident last year.

Allah Dino belonged to Mirpur Bathoro town in Sujawal district. His song, Janatul Firdous Aahin Hi Kandhioon Mehran Joon [The banks of Indus river are like heaven], raised him to prominence. He has many albums of Sindhi songs to his credit. The lyrics in his songs were mostly taken from the poetry of Shaikh Ayaz, Imdad Hussaini, Zulfiqar Rashdi, Ghulam Hussain and other poets of the twentieth century.

Allah Dino's father, Ali Muhammad Khaskheli, was also a singer who imparted the art to his son. A graduate from the Sindh University with a Bachelor's in Education, Allah Dino also taught at a government school in Mirpur Bathoro. He will be laid to rest in his hometown.
