PESHAWAR:

The lawyers of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Bar Association observed a strike to protest the kidnapping of the son of Sindh High Court Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah. The strike was called by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council. The lawyers did not appear in the courts throughout the province and demanded the government ensure safe recovery of the chief justice’s son, Advocate Ovais Ali Shah. PHCBA President Muzammil Khan condemned the kidnapping and urged the government to ensure proper security to judges and their families. He raised questions over how justice could be dispensed if judges and their families were not safe. The association’s president also condemned the murder of a PHC lawyer and his brother in Hayatabad and expressed his condolences with the bereaved family and pressed the police to investigate the matter.
