KARACHI: Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has left to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), where he will represent Jamaica Tallawahs, which also boast superstars such as West Indies duo Chris Gayle and Andres Russell and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara.

Imad will not be the only Pakistani to feature in the high-profile league. Middle-order batsman Umar Akmal will be playing for Trinbago Knight Riders, Shoaib Malik will turn out for Barbados Tridents, while Sohail Tanvir will represent Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Imad has said that he is looking forward to the challenges of the CPL.

“It’s my first journey to the Caribbean so it would be a good learning curve for me and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” said Imad, according to the CPL. “As a cricketer, you always need different challenges to grow and progress, and this is what I want. I’m working hard to keep proving my credentials.”

Imad has played six ODIs and 11 T20Is for Pakistan and has emerged as a steady performer in the limited-overs formats.

The left-armer is eager to feature in the CPL.  “It’s a great honour for me to be a part of the CPL and Jamaica Tallawahs,” he said. “I saw the CPL last year and there’s a lot of great talent in the West Indies. The standard of the CPL is really good, so I’m really looking forward to playing with the Tallawahs.”
