At least four people, including a police constable, died when a van plunged into a ravine on Karakoram Highway near Pattan tehsil on Wednesday.

An official of Pattan police station told The Express Tribune the vehicle was travelling from Chilas to Rawalpindi. The driver of the van lost control of the vehicle near Sair Khair village and the van fell into a ravine. As a result, four people lost their lives.

Villagers and workers of Frontier Works Organization pulled out the bodies from the ravine and shifted them to Rural Health Centre Pattan. One of the deceased has been identified as Sardar Ali, a constable of Sazain police station. The identities of other three were not ascertained till this report was filed.

A day earlier, three people died and two others were injured when a car plunged into a ravine in Sirikot union council in Haripur. According to officials, an Afghan family was travelling to Mansehra from Ghazi on Sirikot Road when the driver lost control of the car.
