FAISALABAD: A man threw acid on his younger brother on Monday as a brawl broke out between them over a cellphone charger.

Shafaqat Ali threw acid on his younger brother, Sharafat Ali, after the two got into a heated argument over who would use the cellphone charger first, Garth police station officer Sarfraz Ahmad told The Express Tribune.

Sharafat received severe burns on his face and was shifted to Allied Hospital Faisalabad. Doctors claim there are chances of the victim losing vision in one eye as a result of 40 per cent burns on his face and neck.

No arrests have been made thus far as the suspect fled from the scene soon after the attack.

Last week, a 36-year-old woman attacked a man with acid for declining her marriage proposal in Multan.

According to police sources, Shamim, resident of Moza Gharyal in Multan district’s Makhdoom Rasheed area, threw acid on Sadaqat, 24, after he refused to marry her. Sadaqat has been shifted to Nishtar Hospital Multan for treatment.

Sources at the hospital said Sadaqat has received 60 per cent burns due to which the next 24 hours are crucial for him.

Following the incident, police officials arrested Shamim who then confessed her crime. Reports revealed that the two were having an affair for over a year.
