Early Monday morning, a team of Lunikot police led by DSP Manzoor Lakhi and SHO Ali Asghar Shah raided the godown and arrested a trader, Ramesh Kumar, and his employees.
On December 29, 2010, a trailer, No. TLK-179, was transporting medicines from Abbott Laboratories in Karachi to Peshawar. Lunikot police said that when the trailer reached Lunikot, Thatta, a gang of 10 armed men signaled the driver to stop. The men then dragged the driver, Rehmatullah, and cleaner Naseebullah out, tied them to a nearby tree and escaped with the vehicle.
A few days later, the area police managed to find the trailer, with the help of its tracking system, from Hyderabad. The police also arrested some suspects, who revealed during interrogation that the medicines were transported via trucks to Rohri town and were then kept in the godown owned by Kumar.
Rohri SHO Tahir Mughal, however, told The Express Tribune that Kumar was arrested from Hyderabad and not from Rohri. He also denied that any other people were arrested but informed sources alleged that the police arrested more than six men but have not declared their arrests nor disclosed their names.
