Iran-pakistan: IP pipeline to be completed by 2018
The IP pipeline’s progress was thwarted when the US imposed sanctions on Iran
ISLAMABAD:
Federal Minister of Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline and Tapi gas pipeline will be completed in 2018 and 2020, respectively.
He said this while giving a briefing on mega projects to foreign diplomats in Islamabad. The IP pipeline’s progress was thwarted when the US imposed sanctions on Iran, drying up funding on Pakistan’s end while Iran managed to build 900km pipeline on its territory.
He added about 250 million cubic feet (mcf) of gas would be imported from Iran during first year, 500 mcf in the second year and 750 mcf in the third.
