Woman kills self, two minor daughters

MULTAN: A woman killed her two minor daughters and later committed suicide by drinking acid after her husband asked her not to fast during Ramazan, Multan police said on Thursday.

Officials said Tehmina*, a resident of Garayhwala, made her young daughters – two-year-old Misha* and eight-month-old Ayesha* – drink acid. She then attempted to kill herself by doing the same. The woman was moved to Nishtar Hospital in a critical condition and died later.

Garayhwala residents said the woman and her husband Mazhar had developed differences over fasting in the holy month of Ramazan.

Sakina, a neighbour of the family, said Tehmina was extremely keen on fasting, while her husband had forbidden her from fasting so that she could nurse their infant daughter.
