Skills training: NAVTEC head visits training school

FAISALABAD:  

National Vocational Training Commission Executive Director Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema said on Thursday that short-term vocational training courses provided the youth the best opportunity to learn skills that would help them earn a living in the country and abroad.

Cheema was visiting the Sanatzar Social Welfare Complex. MPA Madiha Rana and Sanatzar Manager Muhammad Saleem Bulandia were present on the occasion.

Cheema said the government was taking steps to provide employment opportunities to women who completed training courses at vocational institutes. He said interest-free loans would be provided to trained women who wanted to launch businesses after completing courses.

He appreciated the work done by Sanatzar and suggested that the school hold skills competitions for girls being trained at the institute.

MPA Madiha Rana said the youth were being imparted vocational training under the Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Programme which aimed to reduce poverty and unemployment in the country.

The Sanatzar manager briefed the lawmaker and officer about the steps taken under the third phase of the PM Youth Skills Development Programme. He said they were focusing on training women in various fields including information technology, beautician, fine arts and dress making.
