This holiday season, stand out  from the crowd

W  hen it comes to menswear, there are few dignified yet hassle-free options for the Pakistani man, given our sweltering weather. Navigating through racks of kurtas and bundles of fabric can be quite intimidating.

Who wants to wear the same old kurta shalwar year after year? Every one of us is looking for versatile designs and a nonchalant personal quirk that will separate us from the crowd without compromising on practicality.

Go sporty

For those who feel disconnected with eastern aesthetics, it is possible to wear sportswear with kurta pajamas and keep your sartorial credentials intact. Swap buttons with zippers and drawstrings, latha with fabrics likes stretch jersey and piqué, and sandals with minimalist sneakers, to achieve this look.

Neither here nor there

Sherwanis can be overwhelming for a summer Eid; on the flip side, a simple kurta can be too underwhelming. Since neither situation is particularly desirable, look for the ideal in-between. The kurta-sherwani has the buttoned front running across the length without the heavy lining and padding. It takes away the stuffy aesthetic and imbues ease and confidence.

Let if flow

Draped silhouettes with an asymmetric cut are a great way to give a fashion-forward twist to your eastern Eid ensemble. The drape of the kurta and hemlines are the statement here, so stay safe with basic colours and pair it with slim-cut pants or pajamas. Alternatively, experiment with shalwars and keep the kurta straight and tailored.

Tease with tailoring

For those who find experimenting with Eid outfits vaguely offensive, you can choose to go basic with elevated construction quirks. Adventurous ways in which a kurta is cut and sewn imparts a debonair edge to the average kurta pajama combo.

Before you choose to drastically alter your Eid look, do consider whether you have the requisite attitude to pull it off, and whether your lifestyle allows you to seamlessly adopt the look. Always remember a peacock might look exuberant, but it looks exceptionally out of place in a concrete jungle.
