ISLAMABAD: A day after the government announced its fourth budget, Imran Khan hit out at the “flawed policies” of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Saturday, terming corruption as the biggest challenge facing the country.
“Our foremost priority would be to eradicate corruption from Naya Pakistan,” the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman said while addressing a seminar on food security in Islamabad.
He also blamed these undefined policies of the government for leaving Pakistan behind the regional countries like Bangladesh and Singapore.
He said the “biggest evil” of corruption hindered investment and ultimately hampered growth and development.
Recalling Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s claim of $200 billion from Pakistan stashed away in foreign banks and that of Pakistanis purchasing properties worth billions of dollars in Dubai in recent years, Imran said that Dar, in his budget speech, did not say a single word on the issue or about the plans to bring the money back to the country.
The PTI chairman also discussed the ‘sorry state’ of agriculture sector, saying the government was pursuing wrong policies.
