Opposition: PTI rejects ‘anti-poor’ budget

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Friday rejected the federal budget saying that it had failed to provide relief to the poor.

“The government has increased the price of everything… the poor are being exploited,” former governor Chaudhry Sarwar said. He said the PTI would protest against the anti-poor budget on all forums, including the parliament.

Sarwar said the new fiscal plan had again burdened people with taxes. “The 2016-17 budget has failed to translate the aspirations of the people. The government should have been able to meet the challenges of unemployment, revenue collection, tax reforms, foreign debt, social unrest, decline in GDP, and requirements of domestic manufacturing industry,” the PTI leader said.

Former PTI Punjab president Ejaz Chauhdry said Friday’s budget speech had ignored people… as no relief had been announced for them. He accused the government of presenting a financial plan prepared by the International Monetary Fund.
