MANSEHRA: The district administration banned all unlicenced crush machines and decided to take legal action against anyone who defies these restrictions.

Officials privy to the development told The Express Tribune on Wednesday action was taken following public complaints about the operation of unlicenced crush machines in Mansehra, Balakot, Oghi and other areas.

Mansehra DC Iqbal Hussain held a meeting with assistant commissioners and the police to identify all the illegal units in the district and ensure not a single one was left operational.

The DC asked the tehsil administration to take action against the owners without taking into account political affiliations or social influence.

According to officials, there were dozens of small crushers installed on the banks of small streams and rivers by owners who never obtained approval from the minerals department and district administration.
