KARACHI: The management of Imtiaz Superstore has been directed to clean the silt it earlier dumped in the Lyari River in Gulshan-e-Iqbal to make space for illegal parking or else the superstore would be sealed.

Karachi commissioner Asif Hyder Shah issued directives to District East deputy commissioner Asif Jan Siddiqui on Wednesday during a high-level meeting on the monsoon and the condition of drainage system in the city.

Imtiaz store claims to have parking space for 300 vehicles

He said that Imtiaz Superstore must remove the mud at its own cost and asked for a daily report. He also said that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has already issued tenders for the cleanliness of 30 large nullahs.

According to Shah, the major hurdle in the water flow in nullahs was either garbage or encroachments. He lamented that if the municipalities concerned had addressed these issues on time, the situation would have been much better.

He requested Corps Headquarters representative Lieutenant Colonel Bilal Khalid to nominate some army officials to monitor the process of cleaning the nullahs in the city along with the city's deputy commissioners.

Karachiwala | 7 years ago | Reply Masses in Karachi are moving dead they can't do anything. Let them rob of their basic rights and mint money from this pathetic city. Citizens of this city need to take matter in their own hands else nothing changed. I have no hope for this lost city.
