The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has razed 10 commercial and residential buildings across the city under a crackdown on illegal construction. Under the three-day campaign, the LDA demolished buildings in Quaid-i-Azam Town Sectors B1, C1, C2 and D2. The structures had been built in violation of bylaws. An official demolition report revealed that the authority had demolished new structures across sectors C1, C2 and D2 as the violated pertinent laws on frontal open space and commercial activity in residential areas. The authority also razed the front of an illegal shop in Township. Similarly, the LDA demolished front portion of illegal structure in sectors C2 and B2. The authority also sealed a property in sector C2 on for flouting bylaws. Speaking to The Express Tribune, an LDA spokesman said the authority’s town planning wing had executed the operation over the last few days. He said it was a routine exercise conducted to ascertain compliance with building regulations and ensure public safety. The drive had commenced on May 29.
