Crackdown: CTD arrests three suspects in separate raids

According to a handout issued on Tuesday, the suspects allegedly belong to a banned militant outfit

PESHAWAR/MINGORA: At least three suspects were arrested in separate raids in Peshawar and Swat.

The counter-terrorism department arrested two suspects in Bahadar Kalay, Kohat Adda. According to a handout issued on Tuesday, the suspects allegedly belong to a banned militant outfit.

The CTD arrested the two men after receiving information from Federal Investigation Agency.

“The suspects have been identified as Ziaullah and Israel,” stated the handout. “They are residents of Berry Bagh, Peshawar. Explosive material was also seized from their possession.”

The suspects were wanted in a number of targeted attacks. They were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

The pace of search operations has been picked up in various areas after the surge in incidents of target killings in various parts of Peshawar and other districts.

During the year, almost 19 people, including eight police personnel, were targeted.

Nabbed

Separately, the counter-terrorism department in Swat apprehended a proclaimed offender in Manrai area of Matta tehsil, Swat. He has been identified as Bahrmand.

According to the police, the suspect was a crucial member of a banned outfit. He was wanted by law-enforcement agencies for his involvement in anti-state activities.
