Promotions petition: Notices issued to senate officials
Respondents directed to submit replies within two weeks
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court issued notices to two officials of the Senate after a co-worker challenged promotions they had recently been granted. Justice Athar Minallah of IHC issued notices to Senate Secretary Amjad Pervez and Editing Director General Javed Iqbal on the petition of Debates Director Altaf Ahmed Shaikh. Shaikh, a BS-19 Senate officer, informed the court that both officials joined the service in BS-17, were junior to him, and were given successive promotions and are currently working at posts meant for BS-22 and BS-21, respectively. Shaikh said that the officials were deputationists who were later absorbed in the Senate, adding that they should have been repatriated to their parent organisations. After the hearing, the court issued notices to both men with directions to submit replies within two weeks.
