KALLAR SYEDAN: An accident involving a pirate ship ride at the shrine of Baba Masoom Shah on Monday evening left 35 people injured, including women and children.
The three men operating the ride were arrested on Tuesday for negligent conduct, but were released by a court later in the day after paying a fine of Rs6,000.
After the accident, five of the injured were stated to be in critical condition. Later, three were upgraded to stable condition.
Eyewitnesses said that the bars holding the pirate ship to the support structure broke due to overloading. The suspects told the court that people kept boarding the ride despite their warnings, claiming the boat was stationary at the time of the accident.
The incident took place on Monday, the first day of the three-day festival. The second day of the festival was abandoned due to the accident.
