KARACHI: The Imtiaz Superstore’s management has given East Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asif Jan Siddiqui an undertaking that they have parking space for 300 vehicles within their newly inaugurated building’s premises in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, according to a press statement issued by Commissioner Karachi’s office on Tuesday.

The management has assured the DC that they would also donate four car lifters to traffic police officials to lift those cars parked outside the superstore that are blocking traffic. In a high-level meeting held at the commissioner office, it was also decided that all vehicles parked outside the superstore would be fined.

Poor planning: Superstore creates traffic mess

Meanwhile, Siddiqui told The Express Tribune that an inspection team has been formed, comprising the assistant commissioner and representatives from traffic police and Sindh Building Control Authority. He said the team would inspect Shazz superstore at Karsaz, Naheed Superstore at Bahadurabad, Imtiaz Superstore in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Chase Up stores located at Jail Chowrangi and Nipa. He added that the team would inspect whether those superstores have their own parking spaces.

Rumormonger | 8 years ago | Reply Shopowners care a damn about customers except for depriving them of their hard earned savings. In Saddar area the shopkeepers refuse to cooperate in parking arrangements, saying that "Rizq" is given by Allah. Customer will come anyway if destined. What can you say back in return?

Raisani | 8 years ago | Reply The inspection team will visit like if they don't already know? fine they don't know, they will visit bargain with the store owners raise their bribes and come up with "All is Well" report and that's it. They don't have that moral strength to stop getting bribe and seal those stores.

The problem is not the shop owners its the government who should be held accountable for letting them do what they want. But i guess it easier to target the citizen rather then the government whose job is to look into all these issues that have been discussed in the article. Pretty much every single store in Karachi has the same issue.

In fact, the permission to establish any superstore should be subject to the condition of availability of dedicated parking place for such giant stores, otherwise, the issue of traffic jam and chaos caused by consumers shall persist with no permanent solution.

Please ask the Inspection team to visit Imtiaz Super Store in Choti Market Bahadurabad where he has converted a designated Small store into super store by violating all laws. He has destroyed the neighbourhood, gutters overflowing, garbage all over, establishing illegal hazardous godowns in residential houses. One is right in front of the BYJ society .office. He is forcing the residents to flee the once peaceful area. Can your correspondents visit Choti market Bahadurabad and verify every word written above. Imtiaz should remember what Allah says about neighbours. In case the inspection team do not visit every one in Bahadurabad would think they are upto no good.
