With Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif having undergone open heart surgery in London on Tuesday, he will be required to change many aspects of his lifestyle, in order to regain his health. Exercising regularly, and taking less stress are key, as well as maintaining a healthy diet.

We know that the prime minister is a foodie, as he has admitted himself on several occasions so there's a good chance he will have a tough time letting go of his favourite dishes.

To make his life easier, we've compiled a list of foods that he should consider including in his diet, only because we want him to get better soon.

But first, as a reminder here are five habits that the prime minister must let go of.

8 ways your body reacts to a binge

1. Massive feasts

Mian Sahab will have to cut down on his lavish feasts that tend to stretch over a ten foot table. According to the University of Southern California (USC), heart patients should limit portion sizes of food, and should avoid over-eating.

2. Nihari

We know it's probably his favourite dish, but no more nihari for you Mr Prime Minister -- at least for the time being. According to USC, foods which are high in fat and cholesterol must be avoided.

3. Mithai

The prime minister will have to cut back on sugar and sweets after his surgery. So, don't celebrate his recovery with barfi and gulab jaaman.

4. Pizza

Mian Sahab will need to maintain a low salt and sodium diet, since these cause extra fluid to build up in your veins and arteries, reports USC. Foods high in sodium include pizza, canned soups and bread rolls, so we hope Domino's offers don't tempt him.

5. Chicken Makhni

This buttery delicacy is high in cholesterol and fat, and the last thing the prime minister should consider eating. According to USC, people who have large amounts of cholesterol and saturated fats are at increased risk of their blood vessels thickening.

Instead, these are the foods our beloved Prime Minister must learn to love.

1. Salmon

Instead of devouring nihari and biryani packed with red meat, Mian Sahab should substitute these dishes with salmon. Maybe try Biryani of the Seas? Probably not a good idea either, though.

2. Pasta

There's some good news for Mian Sahab however. According to USC, after an open heart surgery, patients should eat healthy sources of carbohydrates such as pasta and potatoes.

3. Veggies

Foods that are high in fiber should also be incorporated into his diet, according to USC. So more carrots and broccoli.

4. Beans

Since he's in London, the prime minister can consume England's favourite meal -- beans on toast. According to Daily Mail, beans are a great source of fiber, and also help heal wounds.

5. Oranges

According to Live Strong, citrus fruits such as oranges and grapefruit are great for healing wounds. Fruits for his labour, don't you think?
