Assistant Superintendent of Police Maroof Safdar Wahla said the accused, Ameen, had confessed to the crime. He quoted the accused as telling investigators that his brother-in-law had told him that Naveed Iqbal would give them Rs50,000 for abetting the double murder.
Ameen said he was given the task of killing Justice Iqbal’s mother, adding that while he and his brother-in-law, Abbas, were doing the gruesome act, Naveed Iqbal was looting valuables.
Wahla said the police will present the accused before a judicial magistrate today for physical remand for further investigation.
Naveed Iqbal and Abbas are already in physical remand of the Factory Area police till February 3, 2011.
