Malik Muhammad Safeer appeared before Islamabad Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Wajid Ali on Saturday to seek pre-arrest bail.
The suspect later left the court premises of his own accord as no policemen were on hand to arrest him.
The court adjourned the case till June 7. Incidentally, the police had later added terrorism charges to the FIR against Safeer.
Bhara Kahu Police Station House Officer Haq Nawaz Ranjha said that he could only comment after going through the case record. When asked why the suspect had not been arrested despite the serious charges against him, the SHO said that sometimes it takes years to arrest suspects as they abscond from their homes. He added that there were also people who were booked in 2001 who have still not been arrested.
Meanwhile, a man who was booked in 2014 for hurling death threats and assaulting a woman, has also applied for pre-arrest bail. Chaudhry Muhammad Arif, the suspect, was booked by the Shahzad Town police.
The hearing into his bail pleas was adjourned till June 8.
